Cooks Road Stream cleanup was done on 9/28/14, and Pines Road Pond on 10/5/14.  The Girl Scouts Troop #70840, and Boy Scout Troop #180 cleaned up Pines Road Pond, and the Cub Scout Pack #180 clean up the Cooks Road Stream.

The cleanup effort took place on a recently designated Area of Rehabilitation, on municipal green acres property. This area is on the Toms River, and the property along the waterfront includes a beach and a forested area. Their Borough had about 50 volunteers including residents and a tremendous effort from Bloomfield College.  

The cleanup was at North Pulaski Park in the city of Passaic, Passaic County.  The main cause of the pollution was illegal dumping, people were throwing old mattresses and shopping carts back there.  The other large source was litter from people visiting the park.  It was amazing to see how much they pulled out of the riverbank, they filled about 4 DPW trucks.

The team cleaned about a square mile of Seven Presidents Beach in Long Branch.  Even though the beach is raked daily, they found plenty to pick up (160 pounds) mostly at the shore line and in the dunes areas.  They had 23 volunteers and were blessed with a beautiful day and a lot of support from NJ Clean Communities.  They supplied bags, gloves, and the most coveted "pointy sticks" to make picking up trash fun for their young volunteers.  It was also rewarding to know that everything they did made a difference in keeping our ocean water clean.  

The Cumberland County Improvement Authority hosted two clean ups.

Volunteers from the Vineland S.H.A.P.E Club had 15 students, 4 adult volunteers, the AmeriCorps watershed ambassador Lucas Carle and Gillian and Dominick Riviera. They kayaked and canoed the Maurice River picking up a total of 15 bags of trash, 11 bags of recycling, 2 plastic chairs, and part of a picnic table and 15 ft. of coated wire. Most of the “trash” they picked up on this river is either from people who canoe this stretch or from the beach area that people like to have parties at.

Pictures of their community clean-up. They had to reschedule to October 11, 2014, due to the weather, although it rained that day also. That did not stop their dedicated crew and Girl Scout Troop and their parents who found their volunteer group on our website. 

September 5th clean up of Pines Road and Pines Road Pond

Volunteers picked up pollution at Bull Shoals Lake - White River area in Arkansas. The White river is a gateway to the Mississippi and then on to the Gulf so our cleanup efforts do affect the Ocean.

Throughout September and October, nearly 500 volunteers collected over 10,000 pounds of marine debris from Puget Sound beaches, shorelines and waterways as part of the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup!

Puget Soundkeeper was able to support this project thanks to national support from the Waterkeeper Alliance SPLASH Series, presented by Toyota, and thanks to local support from Brown Bear Car Wash.

Cleanup at the FIU Biscayne Campus

Tampa Bay Association of Environmental Professionals (TBAEP) group helped with ICC efforts this year.  110 bags collected from McKay Bay in Tampa, FL.

Over 60 participants in the October 10, 2015 event removed over 770 pounds of debris from these two waterways!! Trash was 491.72 pounds which was taken to the waste-to-energy plant for incineration. Recyclable material consisted of 278.62 pounds of glass, plastic, steel, and aluminum.
