“The Jamaica Environ-ment Trust (JET) is looking forward to another record turnout for this year’s International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) Day activities in Jamaica, to be held on September 19.
In 2014, Jamaica ranked as the 12th largest ICC event in the world and the largest in the English-speaking Caribbean.
More than 7,400 Jamaicans cleaned up more than 85,000 pounds of garbage from 113 sites.”
“The Great Lakes Beach Sweep, now it in 30th year, returns to shorelines on Saturday, Sept. 19. The annual event takes place from 10 a.m. until noon.
Also returning this year is Lake Erie Coordinator Sharen Trembath, who says that the past three decades of cleaning up area beaches shows a sizeable difference.
“Over the last 30 years of cleaning our shoreline, I have seen quite a difference,” Trembath said. “The first year, we picked up almost 150 tires. Last year there were four.””
“Girl Scouts in grades K through 12 are hitting the beach this month as they do their part in making their state, and their seas, a better place.
Members of the Coastal Rompers Girl Scout group have been participating in the annual New Hampshire Coastal Cleanup for nearly two decades. This year’s Cleanup will take place on Sept. 19.”
“The Borough of Wildwood Crest is seeking volunteers to participate in the world’s biggest beach cleanup Sept. 19.
[...] Individuals, families and groups are needed to remove litter along the beach between Cresse Avenue and Rambler Road. The borough will provide bags, pickers, gloves and miscellaneous supplies for all volunteers.
Volunteers will gather at 9 a.m. at Centennial Park (Fern Road and Ocean Avenue) before moving onto the beach. ”
“Keep Lee County Beautiful has two projects in the works for Saturday, Sept. 19, as part of International Coastal Cleanup. Volunteers are needed at several sites.
Coastal Cleanup will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are needed to help in this international cleanup effort to rid Florida’s coastlines of litter, pollution and debris. Sites include Bonita Beach (check-in at Lovers Key Event Field), Bunche Beach, Fort Myers Beach Elementary School, Horton Park (can come by boat) and Sanibel beaches.”
